More than 70,000 people have contacted me as an on your side reporter. That is about the number of folks that fill Lambeau Field on fall Sundays in Green Bay. While most people ask for help, many say thanks, tell eloquent stories or offer help to those in need. I'm indebted to the writers of these letters which I've sprinkled throughout this memoir.

Used car lots had spectacular sales on
George Washington's birthday when I was
growing up in Washington, D.C. At age 16,
I was on the front page of the Washington
Herald after buying my first car, a 1947 Buick,
for 46 cents on Feb. 22, 1956.

An impressive memoir. I grew up watching you on the news. You're a great journalist. Thanks, Action Man for looking out for the people of Wisconsin.
Great blog, Glen. I enjoyed working with you at the Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection and enjoy reading your story - what a career/life!
I can't believe you bought a car for 46-cents!!
Thanks, Glen for your work. I wish my wife would take your advice.
I am interested in viewing the segment you had on Good Morning Wisconsin on 11/2/2005, on core.com
I moved five months ago changing my address with the U.S. Post office and on the back of all the credit card remit slips. Some, (3), of the credit card companies did not forward my mail but had my statements returned to them. To my DISMAY I was LATE on the 3 credit card payments. The credit card companies made no attempt to contact me after they had the statements returned to them. I was charged late fees and lost low interest rates on one of the cards, not to mention for a person who has NEVER been late on a credit card payment, I was behind in payments on the three cards. To make matters worse when I contacted the credit card companies and explaining mentioning I felt it their fault because my statements were not forwarded to me but returned to them and asked they remove the late charges they all insisted I make two months worth of payments OVER THE TELEPHONE. I explained I did not feel safe giving my bank routing information OVER A CELL PHONE to someone in INDIA they said they would not remove my late fees. They refused to take into consideration I had NEVER been late on any payments by checking my credit history with them. My only alternative was to make these payments over the phone. I have no idea if all of this has affected my credit score. I feel as if I was PENALIZED FOR MOVING! Incidentally, even though I the three phone payments I am still fighting one of the credit card companies to remove my late payment fees. These credit card companies treat you like a criminal AND ACT LIKE THEY ARE ALL POWERFUL AND CAN PASS JUDGEMENT ON YOU! Please help put these 'BEASTS" in their place!!!
Signed: Someone who had perfect credit until I relocated.
